About the Role

The University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist to join our team. As a key member of our respiratory physiotherapy team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality physiotherapy care to patients with respiratory conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical and professional leadership to physiotherapy colleagues
  • Lead the evaluation and development of clinical practice within the cystic fibrosis team, ensuring compliance with national and local guidelines and frameworks
  • Responsible for the clinical standards, evidence-based practice, and quality metrics
  • Work as an autonomous practitioner to provide specialist therapy assessments, diagnose, and develop individualized treatment programs based on patient needs, using advanced clinical reasoning skills
  • Responsible for a clinical caseload
  • Undertake an active role in developing therapy and liaising with the multidisciplinary team and other centers to ensure the pathway for patients is up-to-date
  • Be responsible for the day-to-day management of the delivery of physiotherapy by the team in an efficient and effective way within a fast and pressurized environment
  • Participate in the planning, development, and evaluation of physiotherapy, holding responsibility for defined projects
  • Work alongside the therapy specialty lead/therapy clinical team leader to develop links between the specialist therapy team and relevant clinical management groups and corporate directorates within UHL
  • Ensure the training and development of staff
  • Liaise with colleagues and work across site/cross specialty if appropriate to ensure the provision of a seamless equitable service
  • Deputize for the therapy clinical team leader as appropriate
  • Develop the evidence base for practice through audit, clinical effectiveness, and research activity
  • Assist and support the therapy management team and therapy specialty leads and therapy clinical team leaders within the service in the improvement and transformation of therapy services
Requirements

  • Experience of working in cystic fibrosis and bronchiectasis
  • Demonstrates specialist skills and knowledge in relevant clinical area

  • Expresses enthusiasm for the post
  • Respiratory on-call and weekend experience
  • Demonstrates knowledge of relevant guidelines and standards
