Job Summary

The Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Advanced Biomedical Support Worker to join our Clinical Microbiology department. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in assisting Biomedical Scientists in the investigation of patient samples, ensuring the efficient processing of specimens, and maintaining laboratory equipment.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assist Biomedical Scientists in the investigation of patient samples, including checking sample integrity and processing clinical specimens for Bacteriological culture.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment in Bacteriology and Molecular departments, ensuring accuracy and precision in test results.
  • Receive and book specimens onto the laboratory computer system, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Answer telephone queries and perform laboratory housekeeping duties, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
