About the Role

The Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Advanced Biomedical Support Worker to join our Clinical Microbiology department. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting the Biomedical Scientists in the investigation of patient samples.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the processing of clinical specimens for Bacteriological culture and molecular microbiology services.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment in Bacteriology and Molecular departments.
  • Check sample integrity prior to analysis and ensure accurate and timely processing of specimens.
  • Contribute to laboratory housekeeping duties, including receiving and booking specimens onto the laboratory computer system.
  • Provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with colleagues and patients.
Working Hours and Environment

The successful candidate will work a rotational shift pattern, including Saturdays, Sundays, and Bank Holidays. You will be based at our Exeter site, which offers a supportive and dynamic work environment. Our laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and technology, and we are committed to providing ongoing training and development opportunities.
