Job Summary

The Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly motivated and organized Advanced Biomedical Support Worker to join the Clinical Microbiology department. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for assisting Biomedical Scientists in the investigation of patient samples, processing clinical specimens for Bacteriological culture, and operating and maintaining laboratory equipment.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist Biomedical Scientists in the investigation of patient samples
  • Process clinical specimens for Bacteriological culture
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment
  • Receive and book specimens onto the laboratory computer system
  • Answer telephone queries and perform laboratory housekeeping duties

Working Pattern

The successful candidate will work on a rotational basis, including Saturdays, Sundays, and Bank Holidays. The laboratory operates 24/7, and the post holder will be required to work flexible hours to support the Trust's 24-hour service.
