The Role:

Hampshire County Council is seeking two dynamic and motivated Senior Commissioning Officers to support and lead strategically important commissioning related to the Directorate's sufficiency duties.

The Sufficiency Service commissions services in the external market to contribute to Children's Services meeting a range of statutory sufficiency duties. This includes commissioning placements and other sufficiency-related provisions for children in care and children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

The ideal candidate will have excellent IT skills, including the ability to manage, manipulate, analyse and present data to demonstrate findings and trends that inform strategic decision-making.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the full commissioning cycle, taking a lead role on tenders and contracts that will be complex, high value and/or of strategic importance to the Directorate.
  • Developing and implementing commissioning and category plans.
  • Building strong and sustainable relationships with suppliers to help secure market share and best value for our placements.
  • Leading on contract monitoring and evaluation to ensure providers are delivering for us and that any quality or capacity concerns are resolved swiftly.

The successful candidate will be a clear communicator with a passion for ensuring quality services, motivated by getting the best out of people and by ensuring that the service delivered is of a high standard.
