Safeguarding Specialist Nurse for Adults: Expert Practitioner in Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a skilled and experienced nurse to join our team as a Safeguarding Specialist Nurse for Adults, specializing in Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia. This role requires a strong clinical background and expertise in the care of patients with haemoglobinopathies, particularly in the transition from paediatric to adult services.
Main Responsibilities- Provide expert nursing care and coordination for patients aged 14-24 years with a diagnosis of Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia.
- Manage a caseload of patients/clients through the process of transition from Paediatric to Adult Haematology Services.
- Develop and implement evidence-based clinical nursing practice in line with current research and guidelines.
- Lead in the development of clinical nursing practice and provide education and training to healthcare teams.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care and support for patients and their families.
- Provide line management to the adult Haemoglobinopathies Clinical Nurse Specialist team and HCC Practice development Nurse.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external partners, including Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity.
- NMC Level 1 or Level 15 Registered Nurse.
- Expert practitioner with formal qualification (Degree) and extensive clinical experience pertinent to the area.
- Master's Degree or working towards.
- Relevant, demonstrable experience in the care of patients with haemoglobinopathies.
- Non-Medical Prescribing.
- Excellent communication and counselling skills.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Advanced clinical assessment skills or willingness to develop these.
- Apheresis skills.
