Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Clinical Psychologist to join our team at King's College Hospital. As a Specialist Practitioner Psychologist, you will be responsible for providing a specialist psychology service to adults with sickle cell disease or thalassaemia.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist assessment, treatment, planning, implementation, and monitoring of outcomes for adults with sickle cell disease or thalassaemia.
  • Operational line management and clinical supervision of a Band 7 psychologist.
  • Work as an autonomous professional within BPS and HCPC guidelines and codes of conduct.
Requirements
  • Entry-level qualification in Applied Psychology (professional Doctorate, or combination of MSc plus PG Diploma level additional training) accepted by the HCPC for purposes of professional registration.
  • Additional training in a specialised area of psychological practice through formal post-qualification training (PG Diploma or equivalent).
  • Completed training course in clinical supervision.
  • Registered with the HCPC as Practitioner Psychologist, and evidence of continuing professional development as required by the HCPC.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Evidence of having worked with people with medical conditions as a clinical specialist under supervision.
  • Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients with a range of complex psychological and physical health needs.
  • Experience of supervising assistant and trainee psychologists having completed the relevant training.
  • Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health issues, child and adult protection, and equalities.
Working at King's College Hospital

King's College Hospital is a designated specialist centre for patients with haemoglobinopathies, caring for over 800 adults with sickle cell disease. We provide inpatient, outpatient, and day unit services, working closely with the paediatric team and other specialties.

We offer a supportive and innovative environment, with established support structures in place, including regular clinical supervision and close working relationships across departments.
