Role Overview:

The Derwent Bank country house features 44 beautifully appointed bedrooms, serving as a tranquil haven for up to 66 guests on guided or self-guided tour holidays.

As the Country House Assistant Manager, you will play a pivotal role in assisting the House Manager to maintain exceptional customer service standards, ensuring that all operations within the house reflect the highest level of excellence.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Customer Service Excellence: Engage with guests to foster a welcoming and friendly environment. Ensure that every aspect of customer service meets our uncompromising standards.
  • Front of House Leadership: Oversee the front of house team, ensuring that all guest areas and accommodations are maintained to brand standards.
  • Property Maintenance and Aesthetics: Collaborate with the House Manager to address repairs and property upkeep, ensuring the garden and grounds reflect the brand's aesthetic values.
  • Team Culture Development: Cultivate a culture of teamwork and collaboration among staff, recognizing its importance to the overall success of the country house.
  • Centralized Support: Utilize the resources of our central HR team for recruitment and performance management, and collaborate with the operations team for health and safety, purchasing, and stock management.

As an Assistant General Manager, your role encompasses not only management but also a dedication to creating an environment where every detail exemplifies the excellence that defines our brand.

Your ability to contribute to our team extends beyond professional skills; it includes your capacity to bring warmth, leadership, and excellence to every aspect of our country house operations.

This position will require you to step in for the House Manager during their days off and annual leave.


Candidate Profile:

We seek individuals with the following essential qualifications:

  • A strong commercial background in the tourism or hospitality sector, with experience as an Assistant Hotel Manager, Country House Assistant Manager, or similar roles demonstrating successful management.
  • Outstanding customer service skills and proven leadership abilities.
  • Flexibility to adapt to varying work hours, particularly during evenings and weekends.
