Position Overview:
We are seeking dedicated, empathetic, and diligent individuals who resonate with our Trust Values: 'Supportive, Respectful, Innovative & Collaborative'.
As a Healthcare Support Worker (Band 2) at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the lives of patients. This position involves collaborating closely with registered Nurses to deliver essential nursing care to adult patients.
To thrive in this role, you must be a strong team player with a commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care. Working within an acute NHS Trust can be demanding, requiring adaptability and resilience in response to the dynamic nature of healthcare.
While prior experience in a Healthcare Support Worker role is advantageous (preferably in an acute environment), we also offer a Band 2 'new to care' position where essential skills will be imparted to newcomers.
Upon joining, you will benefit from a supernumerary period, typically lasting two weeks, designed to equip you with the necessary support for a successful start.
If you aspire to advance to a Senior Healthcare Support Worker role in the future, this is an excellent environment for professional growth. We actively encourage and support those who seek to progress in their careers.
As a Healthcare Support Worker, your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting patients with daily living activities, such as personal hygiene and nutrition.
- Supporting mobility needs and providing care for pressure areas.
- Offering emotional support to patients and their families.
- Conducting one-on-one observations for patients at high clinical risk.
- Maintaining a clean and safe ward environment to prevent infections and falls.
- Escorting patients to various departments as needed.
University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest acute Trusts in the UK, employing over 13,000 staff and offering more than 100 clinical services across multiple sites. We serve a diverse population of over 500,000 individuals in South West England.
Rated 'Good' overall by the CQC, our staff take pride in delivering exceptional care to the communities of Bristol, Weston, and beyond. As a progressive, multi-award-winning Trust committed to enhancing patient care, our pioneering research and innovations are making a significant impact both locally and globally. Our facilities are located in vibrant urban areas and scenic countryside, providing a unique living experience in the South West.
We are dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults. As an equal opportunities employer, we strive to cultivate a diverse workforce that reflects the rich diversity of our local community at all levels, ensuring our services are tailored to meet the needs of individual patients and their families.
