Amazon Data Services UK Limited is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Data Center Operations Manager to lead our team in London Heathrow (LHR). This role offers the unique opportunity to oversee the management of one of the world's largest cloud computing infrastructures, driving operational excellence across all aspects of data center operations.

As a Data Center Operations Manager, you will be responsible for managing and developing teams of engineers, ensuring the smooth operation of existing data centers, contributing to the construction of new facilities, and continuously refining processes to optimize performance. You will play a crucial role in cultivating strong relationships with internal teams and external vendors, fostering a collaborative environment that prioritizes safety, security, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop high-performing engineering teams responsible for data center operations.
  • Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of existing data centers, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of new data center construction projects, adhering to industry best practices and safety standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational processes and implement solutions that enhance efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Manage relationships with key vendors and suppliers, ensuring timely delivery of services and materials.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams, including engineering, IT, and management, to ensure seamless data center operations.
  • Implement robust service methodologies, such as incident management, problem management, and capacity management, to maintain high levels of service availability.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

We are seeking a candidate with a strong technical background, proven leadership experience, and a passion for data center operations. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in managing large-scale IT infrastructure, including data centers.
  • 3+ years of experience leading and developing engineering teams.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • In-depth knowledge of data center technologies, including servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling systems.
