Liaison & Diversion Support Worker

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Liaison & Diversion Support Worker to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting individuals within the criminal justice system who require mental health or learning disability support.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive support to individuals involved with the criminal justice system, including those in police custody and court settings.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of individuals' needs, identifying any underlying mental health or learning disability issues.
  • Develop and implement person-centered care plans, ensuring that individuals receive appropriate interventions and support.
  • Liaise effectively with a range of professionals, including police officers, court staff, healthcare providers, and social workers.
  • Advocate for individuals' rights and ensure their voices are heard throughout the criminal justice process.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of Liaison & Diversion strategies within the Trust.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • A Level 5 Assistant Practitioner qualification or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 12-18 months relevant work experience supporting vulnerable clients within a health and social care setting.
  • A strong understanding of the principles of recovery, person-centered planning, and safeguarding.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • A commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate care.
Desirable Criteria:
  • Postgraduate psychology qualification.
  • Previous experience working within the criminal justice system or Liaison & Diversion settings.
  • Knowledge of the health and social care systems.
Continuous Professional Development:

We encourage ongoing learning and development. Evidence of attendance at relevant conferences/training courses, qualifications, and recent reading around your specialty is essential.

Additional Requirements:
  • Full driving license and car ownership are essential for this role.
  • Ability to deal sensitively and decisively with conflict management.
  • Ability to work effectively in challenging situations involving highly distressing circumstances.
  • In addition to a DBS check, you will require police vetting for this role.
