Position: Gender and Peacebuilding Specialist

Are you a skilled and qualified professional in the field of Gender and Peacebuilding? Tearfund South Sudan offers a rewarding opportunity for a dedicated Peacebuilding Specialist.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the effective execution of peacebuilding initiatives aimed at enhancing the resilience of communities affected by conflict and supporting returning refugees.
  • This position will be based in Rubkona County, Unity State, with funding provided by the European Union.
  • Responsibilities include ensuring the successful implementation of peacebuilding and social cohesion strategies, collaborating with various sectors and partners, providing technical and administrative support to the Inter-Church Committee (ICC), and enhancing the capacity of local peace structures.
  • The role will involve integrating gender-sensitive approaches and mainstreaming protection concerns throughout all project phases to promote economic empowerment and social justice.
  • The incumbent will assist project team members in ensuring the collection and analysis of sex, age, and disaggregated data (SADD) in project activities while addressing protection issues in field operations.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, Political Science, International Relations, International Development, Law, Gender Studies, Economics, Humanitarian Studies, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in conflict prevention, gender-based violence (GBV) issues, peacebuilding, good governance, human rights, and development.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience working with international organizations.
  • Experience in peace, gender, and social integration initiatives.
  • Proven track record in community engagement and implementing peacebuilding and protection strategies in humanitarian contexts.
  • Experience in organizing and facilitating intra/inter-community peace dialogues.
  • Capability in delivering capacity-building support and guidance to others.
  • Experience in documenting success stories and case studies effectively.
  • Familiarity with community engagement activities and humanitarian response.
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluation (M&E) and conducting assessments.
  • Knowledge of Sphere and GBV methodologies and tools.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Excellent report writing and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to manage staff in a supportive and consultative manner.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Capability to make informed decisions and take charge of situations.
  • Ability to communicate in Arabic is an advantage.
  • Must possess a valid motorbike riding permit.
