Gender & Peacebuilding Officer - Rubkona

Are you a skilled and dedicated professional in the field of Gender and Peacebuilding? Tearfund South Sudan offers a unique opportunity for a qualified individual to join our team as a Peacebuilding Officer.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the effective execution of peacebuilding initiatives aimed at enhancing the resilience of communities affected by conflict and supporting returning refugees in Rubkona County, Unity State, with funding from the European Union. Key responsibilities include:

  • Implementing peacebuilding strategies and fostering social cohesion within the community.
  • Collaborating with various sectors and partners to ensure a holistic approach.
  • Providing technical and administrative support to the Inter-Church Committee (ICC) and strengthening local peace structures.
  • Integrating gender-sensitive approaches and protection considerations throughout all project phases to promote economic empowerment and social justice.
  • Supporting project team members in collecting and analyzing sex, age, and disaggregated data (SADD) to inform project activities and address protection concerns.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, Political Science, International Relations, International Development, Law, Gender Studies, Economics, Humanitarian Studies, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of conflict prevention, gender-based violence (GBV), peacebuilding, governance, human rights, and development issues.

EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience working with international organizations.
  • Proven experience in peacebuilding, gender issues, and social integration.
  • Experience engaging with communities and facilitating peace dialogues.
  • Documenting success stories and case studies effectively and timely.
  • Experience in community engagement activities and humanitarian response.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and evaluation (M&E) processes and conducting assessments.
  • Knowledge of Sphere and GBV methodologies and tools.

SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Proficient in oral and written communication in English.
  • Strong report writing and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to manage and support staff effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Decision-making skills and the ability to take charge in challenging situations.
  • Proficiency in Arabic is an advantage.
  • Capability to ride a motorbike with a valid permit.
