About the Role

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Counselling Coordinator to lead our team and oversee the recruitment, training, and supervision of volunteer counsellors and counselling students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead on a rolling cycle of recruitment of volunteer counsellors and counselling students across the year to ensure that volunteering is sustained in the service.
  • Ensure that all counselling students and volunteer counsellors are provided with a high-quality package of induction, training, clinical supervision, and appraisal to enable them to carry out their role effectively within the service.
  • Work with line managers to support and develop the Counselling Service, recruit and select suitable student volunteer counsellors, and maintain good links with Universities and Colleges and other learning centres.
  • Carry out inductions, provide training, and ongoing support for volunteer counsellors.
  • Provide counselling interventions for clients with complex or specialist needs as appropriate.
  • Part of your role will be to evaluate and monitor the counselling service to ensure outcomes are met.
About You

Requirements:

  • Professional Level 4 (minimum) Counselling Qualification and working towards BACP accreditation.
  • Working towards a diploma in Therapeutic Counselling Supervision or equivalent that adheres to BACP ethical principles.
  • An understanding of the issues facing individuals affected by substance misuse, including carers and family members.
  • Maintain professional boundaries with professionals, colleagues, and service users at all times.
  • Ability to train counselling students and volunteers to support service users utilizing a variety of interventions.
  • Make good use of clinical supervision.
  • Experience of recruiting, supervising, and developing volunteers (desirable but not essential).
