Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Employee Relations Advisor to provide first-line Human Resources advice and support to Trust employees and managers, in accordance with the Trust's policies and procedures and good employment practices.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide first-line advice and guidance to managers on managing short-term and long-term sickness absence, including holding and supporting managers with termination hearings.
- Communicate complex/sensitive information relating to ill health retirement and redeployment processes.
- Use ESR sickness data to manage short and long-term sickness cases, providing information to staff and managers when approaching half or nil pay.
- Identify potential hot spot areas of concern across directorates and work with the HR Business Partnering team, Occupational Health, and Staff Health and Wellbeing leads to implement interventions.
- Interpret and advise managers on Trust policies to ensure compliance, offering general HR advice to all Trust staff.
- Take a leading HR role on Flexible Working applications and appeals, supporting managers to review the impacts on individuals and services.
- Regularly run reports from ESR on flexible working requests, identifying areas with outliers.
- Provide advice and first-level support to managers and staff on employee relations matters, including DBS, Professional Registration, conduct issues, and other matters.
- Support managers to undertake successful informal resolution meetings.
- Collaborate with ER Administrators on Freedom of Information requests, liaising with directorate managers to ensure accurate and timely information.
- Run reports and analyse complex data to identify potential interventions and improvements.
- Submit monthly reports to the payroll liaison team with details of open-ended long-term sickness cases.
- Experience working as an Employee Relations Advisor in an NHS Trust.
- Experience working on a Band 5 level.
- Dealing with long-term sickness, redundancy, and dismissal cases.
- Understanding of current NHS financial restraints.
- Experience using e-DBS.
- Excellent communication skills, both over the phone, via email, and face-to-face.
