Centre People Appointments is actively seeking a seasoned HR Director. In this key position, you will take charge of steering, guiding, and overseeing all facets of human resources, payroll, and pension operations to ensure a fully integrated service is provided to the organization. The ideal candidate will possess a talent for nurturing collaboration across various departments, a profound comprehension of HR functions, and a proactive approach to undertaking responsibilities independently.

Employment Type: Full-time, permanent contract
Working Hours: Standard office hours from Monday to Friday
Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience, with performance bonuses
Location: Central London (Hybrid working model with specified in-office days)

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Lead and manage the HR department, collaborating with the HR Manager to deliver a thorough HR service aligned with the business objectives.
  2. Ensure all HR initiatives are strategically aligned with the organizational goals.
  3. Provide guidance to management on employee relations, including absence management, disciplinary actions, and grievance procedures.
  4. Support managers in performance management practices and processes.
  5. Mentor the HR Manager, fostering a supportive and collaborative atmosphere to enhance capabilities.
  6. Develop and implement training and development programs as necessary, identifying areas for improvement.
  7. Oversee the entire recruitment process, adhering to the annual recruitment strategy.
  8. Manage compensation and benefits activities, including participation in salary surveys and benefit reviews.
  9. Ensure payroll services are executed in compliance with relevant guidelines and procedures.
  10. Accountable for managing HR policies, handbooks, and procedures, ensuring they are current and compliant with employment law.
  11. Collaborate with senior management on people-related issues, fostering employee engagement and team-building initiatives.
  12. Address complex HR issues, utilizing HR knowledge to make informed decisions.
  13. Guide and develop direct reports, ensuring the identification and growth of high-potential employees.
  14. Manage HR budgets effectively.
  15. Support the development of a global HR framework in partnership with various regions.
  16. Ensure compliance with Data Protection regulations in all HR activities.
  17. Oversee third-party service providers supporting office functions.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
  1. Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  2. CIPD Level 7 or equivalent qualification, with extensive experience managing a large HR function.
  3. Experience in the medical, pharmaceutical, or regulated industries is preferred.
  4. Previous experience in a Japanese corporate environment is essential.
  5. A minimum of 10 years in senior HR roles, including experience as Head of HR.
  6. Fluency in Japanese is advantageous but not required.
  7. Exceptional communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  8. Proven ability to work effectively with global teams in an international corporate setting.
  9. Strong background in recruitment, compensation, benefits, employment law, payroll, and compliance.
  10. Experience interacting with senior stakeholders and external vendors.
  11. Confidence in directing HR initiatives and advising on people management.
  12. Solid understanding of employment law and its application in various HR scenarios.
  13. Proficient in IT, particularly in MS Office and HR systems.
