Overview

Fastmarkets is a leading provider of price reporting, events, and intelligence services for the commodities market. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our team as the Head of Event Marketing and Strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy for our events business, including launch and existing events or services.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing event marketing team, including a dedicated delegate sales operation.
  • Oversee the implementation of the marketing strategy at a business and event level.
  • Ensure the successful onsite delivery of the Fastmarkets brand experience.
  • Manage the annual marketing budget across all events and ensure costs are managed forensically.
  • Guide the day-to-day activities of the marketing team and marketing managers.
  • Work with the IT department to capitalize on event technology performance in customer journey, feeding in business requirements, tracking performance, and driving continual improvements.
  • Create Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with key departments and external suppliers to establish efficient and transparent ways of working.
  • Manage integration with the Central Marketing Function, identifying and rapidly addressing any challenges or issues.
  • Create pricing strategies at event level to drive customer and commercial growth based on a deep understanding of the market, event objectives, customer, and competitors.
  • Manage the customer success team to ensure a seamless customer journey and track performance.
  • Continually review changes to the market, consumer trends, and the activities of competitors, adjusting the marketing plan if necessary.
  • Provide tools and materials to enable the sales team to function effectively and drive lead generation campaigns.
  • Work with the Central Marketing Function to manage and refine the organization's social media presence pre, at, and post-event.
  • Create sustainable email campaign approaches to minimize unsubscribe levels and rollout.
  • Work with the Central Marketing Function to build a connected customer journey to ensure events and lead generation campaigns feed into each other where possible to drive increased conversion from delegate customer to subscriber and vice versa.
  • Build and deploy actionable data strategies to grow target customer databases to support growth strategy.
  • Manage and report on the effectiveness of marketing campaigns using pre-determined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Utilize data for marketing campaigns, interrogating the organization's databases and external data.
  • Identify new business opportunities and technologies to drive efficiency and effectiveness of marketing operations and campaigns.
  • Conduct market research studies and ensure all marketers develop a deep understanding of their markets and customer bases.
  • Negotiate with media agencies and secure agreements on the production of promotional materials.

Requirements

  • Minimum of years' experience in marketing, including heading up and developing high-performing marketing teams.
  • Experience running and developing event marketing teams.
  • Experience working in the commodities sector.
  • Degree-level education preferable (marketing/business studies).
  • CIM (Chartered Institute of Marketing) and/or similar marketing qualifications ideal.
  • Experience managing marketing, CRM, and event technology platforms ideally including Marketo, Salesforce, Cvent, Netsuite, and Swapcard.
  • Experience of new product development.
