The Role

As a Sales Representative, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Branch Manager in leading and motivating the branch team to achieve sales, gross margin, and other key business targets. Your primary objective will be to grow branch sales and margins by proactively chasing sales opportunities, finding new business, and developing relationships with new and existing customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with customers over the trade counter and by telephone, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a positive experience for all visitors.
  • Advise customers on the most suitable and advantageous products to use, promoting add-on items and maintaining a high standard of presentation within the trade counter.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with trade customers, identifying and capitalizing on new business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the branch team to achieve sales, gross margin, and other key business targets, ensuring seamless communication and a cohesive approach.
  • Source materials needed to meet customer requirements for items not stocked through the correct channels, ensuring efficient and effective supply chain management.
  • Cultivate and maintain exceptional standards of customer service, ensuring Lawsons Whetstone's Best Practice, Standards, and Company Policies are met.
  • Deal with customer queries effectively, pleasantly, and in a timely manner, providing solutions and resolving issues promptly.
  • Assist in the company stock counts, ensuring stock levels are maintained and merchandised, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the branch.
  • Build rapport, be polite, and courteous to customers, ensuring a positive and welcoming experience for all visitors.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working in a builders' merchants or a similar industry is essential for this role.
  • Demonstrate a positive and friendly attitude, with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to approach customers with confidence.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and negotiating skills are required to develop and maintain positive relationships with trade customers.
  • Experience in developing positive relationships with trade customers and identifying new business opportunities is highly desirable.
  • Excellent IT skills are necessary to effectively manage customer interactions and maintain accurate records.
