Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Duty Practitioner to join our team at Concrete. As a Duty Practitioner, you will play a vital role in providing support and advice to individuals who have experienced homelessness at our male or female scheme.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a friendly and supportive environment at the scheme, ensuring customers feel comfortable and empowered to manage their tenancy.
  • Support customers with rent and service charge payments, including benefit claims, to ensure timely and accurate processing.
  • Complete detailed sign-ups to ensure new customers understand their rights and responsibilities, and assist with move-in processes to ensure a smooth transition.
  • Offer advice on housing, health, welfare benefit claims, and other areas, including crisis intervention when necessary.
  • Contribute to the safety and security of residents and the building by monitoring entry and exit points, conducting regular health and safety checks, and reporting any concerns.
  • Arrange appointments for customers with external services, such as GPs and DWP, and accompany customers on visits as needed.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including phone calls, post, and general enquiries, to ensure efficient communication and record-keeping.
  • Support with financial duties, including prompting and recording weekly rent and service charges, and liaising with housing benefit and benefits agencies on behalf of customers.

Requirements

  • Educated to GCSE Level or with a good level of maths and English.
  • Experience dealing directly with the public and/or clients or customers in a busy service environment.
  • Experience dealing with complex and difficult behaviors in relation to people facing multiple disadvantages.
  • Excellent communication and administrative skills.
  • A genuine understanding and compassion for individuals without a home, with the ability to empower customers and give them a voice.
  • DBS check.
  • Ability to work on a seven-day rota, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
