Position Overview
We are excited to announce a vacancy for a Lead Psychological Wellbeing Specialist (LPWS) within our dynamic Talking Therapies Team. This role is ideal for a dedicated and skilled professional eager to contribute to our mission of enhancing mental health support.
Salary and Employment Details
Band 6 - £35,392 - £42,618 per annum - full-time hours.
The Lead Psychological Wellbeing Specialist will play a pivotal role in overseeing and guiding the work of Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWPs) while collaborating with a diverse team across the locality.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for managing, supporting, and advancing the provision of low-intensity therapeutic interventions throughout the community.
You should possess experience in an NHS Talking Therapy environment, hold registration with the BABCP, and ideally have a supervisory qualification.

The Talking Therapies Service is recognized for its high performance and innovative approach to Primary Care mental health support.
Our service operates in partnership with various health organizations, ensuring a comprehensive range of NICE-approved, evidence-based treatments for individuals facing common mental health challenges, including anxiety and depression, as well as those with concurrent physical health conditions.
Job Duties
The Lead Psychological Wellbeing Specialist will:
- Hold a qualification (Postgraduate Diploma/Certificate) in Low Intensity Psychological Interventions.
- Provide evidence-based low-intensity treatments to clients.
- Develop and mentor innovative practices for trainee IAPT psychological wellbeing practitioners and other qualified professionals.
- Engage in significant case management, line management, and clinical supervision responsibilities.
- Work with diverse populations, adapting to various community settings and utilizing interpreters as needed.
- Supervise trainee low-intensity workers and IAPT practitioners under the guidance of the Clinical Lead.

Essential
- Postgraduate Certificate in Low Intensity Psychological Interventions.
Desirable
- Qualification in PWP/IAPT supervision.
Experience
Essential
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as a PWP within an NHS Talking Therapies Service.
