Position Overview
Role: Psychological Support Assistant - Band 5 - Full-time
We are seeking a dedicated Psychological Support Assistant to join our team at North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare Trust. This full-time position is designed to assist the Senior Clinical Psychologist in delivering psychological care to individuals who have undergone significant trauma or rehabilitation. The role involves working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide specialized support to patients recovering from serious health events.
Key Responsibilities
The primary duties of this role include:
- Collaborating with the Senior Clinical Psychologist and the multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality psychological assessments and interventions for patients in need of specialized rehabilitation.
- Implementing structured therapeutic interventions under the guidance of the Senior Clinical Psychologist.
- Engaging with individuals who present complex needs, which may lead to challenging behaviors or situations.
- Administering and evaluating relevant assessment tools, outcome measures, and cognitive evaluations.
- Contributing to service development and evaluation initiatives.
Previous experience working with adults facing physical, cognitive, or mental health challenges is essential. Familiarity with multidisciplinary team environments is advantageous.

Job Responsibilities
The Psychological Support Assistant will:
- Assist in delivering neuropsychologically-informed rehabilitation across various settings.
- Work under the supervision of the Senior Clinical Psychologist to implement care plans.
- Be prepared to engage with clients who may be experiencing distress or anxiety, requiring sensitivity and professionalism.
- Independently manage tasks as agreed upon with the clinical psychologist and the multidisciplinary team.
- Support administrative functions related to clinical activities, including audits, data collection, and project development.
- Travel between community appointments as necessary.
Qualifications
Essential
- A first or upper second class honours degree in psychology, with eligibility for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society.
- Experience working with individuals facing mental health challenges or disabilities, including prior experience as an Assistant Psychologist.
