Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Learning Disability Nurse to join our Central and West Lancashire Children's Community Learning Disability Team. The successful candidate will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to address the health, psychological, emotional, and behavioral needs of children and young people with a learning disability and/or Autism.

Main Responsibilities
  • Work with individuals who have a learning disability/complex needs on an individual and group basis.
  • Support the assessment and management of risk for children and young people with ASD.
  • Supervise and manage staff within the service.
  • Take a senior role in undertaking and supporting assessments for the school-aged Autism Spectrum Disorder Pathway.

This is a specialist role within Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust, which provides a range of services including secondary mental health care, specialist provision, and physical health and well-being services in the community. The Trust encourages flexible working and offers a range of benefits to support work-life balance.

Requirements
  • Part 5 or 14 of NMC register with 2-3 years' experience as a registered nurse or equivalent.
  • Ability to travel around the district.
  • Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder and how to undertake assessment and support children and young people with ASD.
  • IT competence.
Desirable Qualifications and Skills
  • Preparation of Mentor training/NST 307 / ENB 998 Relevant post-registration Qualification.
  • Presentation Skills.
  • Knowledge and skills in the assessment/management of risk.
