Position Summary:
The CASS audit division within our Financial Services practice is responsible for overseeing a wide range of prominent entities, including major investment banks, retail banking institutions, and broker-dealers, as well as leading asset management firms in the UK. Our team has successfully secured numerous contracts recently and anticipates significant growth in the coming years.
The CASS Centre of Excellence plays a crucial role in delivering CASS assurance reports across the Financial Services audit spectrum at KPMG, including our Banking Audit sector. With a solid reputation in this field, we are poised for expansion due to increasing regulatory demands and the need for external assurance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervising, mentoring, and developing audit team members.
- Coordinating partner engagement on projects and providing necessary updates.
- Serving as the primary contact for audited entities throughout the year; managing schedules, anticipating costs, and coordinating fee agreements.
- Maintaining proactive communication with senior stakeholders regarding industry developments.
- Building and sustaining strong networks within the industry.
- Engaging with audited entities and subject matter experts on technical issues pertinent to Financial Services audits and CASS.
- Leading the planning and execution of audits, including interim and final fieldwork and completion tasks.
- Participating in tender processes and collaborating with the independence team.
- Contributing to the management group of the Banking Audit department and driving strategic initiatives.
- Acting as the performance manager for team members.
- Significant recent experience in CASS audits at a Big 4 or mid-tier firm.
- Strong understanding of developments in the Financial Services sector and a proven ability to cultivate strategic partnerships and influence senior management.
- Resilience and drive to perform effectively in high-pressure situations.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to engage and challenge senior stakeholders.
- Demonstrated project management capabilities, including sound judgment and escalation awareness.
- Comprehensive knowledge of CASS 6, CASS 7, CASS 8, and CASS 10.
- In-depth understanding of the Financial Services landscape, including banking structures, governance frameworks, and control processes.
- Ability to thrive under pressure and meet stringent deadlines.
- Degree-level education or equivalent.
- Professional qualifications are preferred but not mandatory, along with a solid grasp of regulatory guidelines and their practical application in the investment management sector.
- Ability to assess technical issues, analyze data, consult effectively, and deliver high-quality audits.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the capacity to engage effectively with audited entities and external stakeholders.
- A proactive mindset that aligns with a supportive and challenging work culture.
- Awareness of regulatory changes and current issues impacting audited entities.
- Experience working collaboratively in teams while also being capable of independent work.
- Extensive background in the CASS sector.
