Job Overview

We are seeking a Band 6 Theatre Team Leader responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe and effective clinical practices while overseeing and mentoring a dedicated team of theatre professionals.

This role focuses on enhancing patient experiences through consistent and constructive communication, alongside managing and developing the performance of theatre staff.

Main Responsibilities

As a Theatre Team Leader, your key responsibilities will include:

  1. Ensuring safe and effective clinical practices are upheld.
  2. Aligning care planning and delivery with professional values.
  3. Promoting a clean and secure environment for staff, patients, and visitors.
  4. Reporting incidents and near misses in a timely and appropriate manner.
  5. Managing a theatre area or client group to ensure compliance with statutory standards and Trust procedures.
  6. Contributing to the scheduling of duty rotas and organizing annual leave to maintain continuity of care and safety.
  7. Coordinating patient care episodes to ensure an effective and efficient journey.
  8. Acting as an advocate for patients, prioritizing safe and harm-free care in all decisions.
  9. Developing and managing team performance and personal growth.
  10. Serving as a positive role model and adhering to expected standards of behavior.
  11. Supporting the appraisal process by ensuring personal development plans are in place.
  12. Creating and maintaining a positive learning environment.
  13. Facilitating the learning and development of junior staff, including support for registration or revalidation.
  14. Participating in recruitment and selection processes within the practice setting.
  15. Managing sickness and absence within the defined team.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Registered Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) or Nurse.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Competency in two specialties (Scrub, Recovery & Anesthetics).

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in a team leader role.
