We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Anaesthetics Consultant to join our team at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust. As a key member of our Theatres and Anaesthetics department, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality, progressive, and professional Anaesthetic services in a broad range of surgical specialties.
Key Responsibilities- Work collaboratively with existing Anaesthetists to provide a high-quality Anaesthetic service
- Participate in theatre work, pre and post-operative visiting, emergency work, outpatient pre-assessment activities, and administration directly related to Anaesthetic services
- Contribute to training, medical education, continuous professional development, formal teaching, audit, clinical management, and local clinical governance activities
- Develop special interests in Anaesthetic Simulation, Bariatric Anaesthesia, Pre Assessments, ENT/Airway, Paediatrics, Perioperative Medicine, and Regional Anaesthesia
- Primary medical degree registrable in the UK
- Membership of the GMC's Specialist Register or entry expected within 6 months from the date of interview
- Relevant CCT or equivalent, confirmed by PMETB/GMC by date of interview
- FRCA or equivalent
- Experience of working in an NHS hospital
- Full GMC Registration and licensable
- Wide experience in all aspects of Anaesthesia
- Experience in Bariatric and/or Preassessment
- Evidence of research experience and published work
- Ability to teach clinical skills to medical staff/students and other disciplines
- An understanding of the current NHS environment, particularly in relation to reforms, initiatives, and issues
- Experience of conducting clinical audit
- Ability to use the evidence base and clinical audit to support decision-making
