Position Overview
This is a remarkable opportunity to become a pivotal member of our pharmacy team at a senior level. We are seeking a seasoned pharmacist to lead the clinical pharmacy services within the Surgical Division, specifically focusing on the Musculoskeletal (MSK) and Theatres and Critical Care (TACC) Care Groups.
Key Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will be a driven pharmacist with a passion for delivering cost-effective, clinically sound, and patient-centered care.
Exceptional communication skills are essential.
Compliance with legal and professional standards, as well as adherence to national and regional guidelines, is a must.
Support for drug budget holders and financial stakeholders to ensure the efficient use of medications and the successful implementation of Cost Improvement Plans is required.
Ability to provide comprehensive pharmaceutical support, guidance, and information to medical, nursing, and other healthcare professionals involved in clinical care in the designated specialist area.
Engagement in Pharmacy Service research and development initiatives within the specialist area, contributing to the publication, presentation, and dissemination of findings.
Leadership in clinical audits within the designated specialist area as part of a multidisciplinary audit process, while also supporting the broader Pharmacy Service audit strategy.
Main Responsibilities:
Develop and implement pathways between the organization and primary care partners.
Contribute to the provision of a comprehensive pharmaceutical service, including support for specialist multidisciplinary teams within the Surgical Division.
Ensure compliance with all legal and professional standards and guidelines.
Deliver a high-quality, patient-focused service through the pharmacy team in the designated specialist area, while supporting colleagues in broader service delivery.
Assist drug budget holders and financial stakeholders to promote the cost-effective use of medications and achieve Cost Improvement Plans.
Contribute to the strategic advancement of pharmacy services across the organization.
Provide high-level pharmaceutical support, advice, and information to medical, nursing, and other healthcare staff in the designated specialist area.

Essential Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Pharmacy (or equivalent)
- Completion of a one-year pre-registration program
- Current professional registration as a Pharmacist
- Postgraduate Clinical Pharmacy diploma or equivalent advanced experience
Desirable Qualifications:
- Independent Prescriber
Essential Experience:
- Demonstrated understanding of NHS operations, including prescribing and medicines management
- Proficient in computer applications, particularly word processing, spreadsheets, email, and clinical systems
- Significant experience in a surgical setting
- Experience in engaging with patients, contractors, and stakeholders
- Experience in providing prescribing and medicines management advice
Desirable Experience:
- Experience in an adult critical care unit
Essential Skills:
- Strong therapeutic knowledge, capable of providing specialized advice and making recommendations regarding patient treatment
