About the Infrastructure Team

Our Infrastructure team delivers complex projects across the UK, combining design, build, and refurbishment expertise. We partner with clients and communities to create impactful infrastructure improvements, such as the A14 improvement scheme, HS2, and the Waterloo and Southwest station upgrade.

The Opportunity: Commercial Director for Kent Roads Project

We are seeking a highly experienced Commercial Director to lead the commercial aspects of our £450 million Kent Roads project. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a major infrastructure development and shape its financial success.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all commercial, procurement, and risk management functions to ensure the project's financial viability.
  • Develop and mentor individuals and teams to maximize their potential and maintain robust commercial, procurement, and risk control throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide comprehensive reporting on the project's financial performance against budget and other key targets, including a thorough analysis of associated risks.
  • Proactively manage the commercial position on projects to consistently exceed financial goals.
  • Offer expert commercial advice and guidance on managing change throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate closely with Skanska's Legal Department on all contract-related matters, including agreement negotiation and post-award changes.
  • Lead the management of formal dispute resolution processes and ensure that any significant claims are handled in accordance with company procedures.
  • Implement best practices in commercial procedures to ensure effective contract management.
  • Uphold compliance with Skanska's policies, procedures, Code of Conduct, and all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to sustainability and social responsibility by proactively integrating these principles into project execution.
Your Qualifications:
  • Proven leadership skills with a track record of success in collaborative environments.
  • Extensive commercial experience within a leading construction company.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing large-scale infrastructure construction projects exceeding £100 million.
  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent, with relevant industry experience.
  • Membership of RICS, ICES, or ICE, preferably at the Fellow level or a strong desire to achieve this status.
  • In-depth understanding of contract conditions and legal frameworks.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities with the capacity to thrive under pressure.
