Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quantity Surveyor/Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team at CV-Library. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing commercial risk and communicating this across various stakeholders within the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Support the work winning team to review/identify risks/accountabilities within tender packs and associated contractual terms and conditions.
  2. Prepare, develop, and implement commercial strategies for pre and post tender.
  3. Transitioning the handover of projects tendered into live projects.
  4. Determination of the scope of work and contractual obligations delivering the work through the interpretation of contract documents.
  5. Advise the business on the differing standard form of contracts used for construction projects.
  6. Identify and manage commercial risk on new and existing contracts.
  7. Quantifying and costing of infrastructure works.
  8. Accountable for contract compliance and performance.
  9. Prepare and implement contract management processes.
  10. Can coherently explain contract conditions that identify variations to contracts.
  11. Builds strong and collaborative relationships with key clients and suppliers.
  12. Negotiate contract agreements and manage potential onerous contractual obligations.
  13. Contract administration including providing advice on contractual matters.
  14. Work with Sector Managers to ensure projects fit commercial targets.
  15. Develop, finalise, and present accurate Management Information (MI) to senior management.
  16. Support the Project teams on budgets to determine accurate commercial forecasting.
  17. Perform continuous programme analysis with identification of any potential delays, risk.
  18. Liaise with the Procurement team for supply chain engagement and subcontract administration.
  19. Diligently provides timely information on the growth of anticipated Final Account value.
  20. Ensure compliance of the team towards all safety initiatives and active participation in meeting our safety targets.

Requirements:

  1. Previous experience in an AQS QS or SQS position within construction.
  2. Background in working for a Tier 2 sub contractor.
  3. Proven experience of negotiation.
  4. Previous experience working within large infrastructure projects.
  5. Knowledge and comprehensive understanding of NEC contracts (all options).
  6. Demonstratable knowledge/understanding of Construction law and standard forms of contract.
  7. A working understanding of valuation techniques of construction works including elemental cost analysis of items such as labour, materials, plant, sub-contract and general expenses.
  8. Experience of tendering and pre-contract cost analysis.
  9. Understands conflict avoidance/conflict management.
  10. Pro active and forward thinking individual.
