Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Feasibility Studies and Cost Planning:
    - Conduct feasibility assessments to estimate materials, time, and labor costs.
    - Prepare, negotiate, and analyze costs for tenders and contracts.
    - Collaborate with project stakeholders to formulate cost plans and strategies.
  2. Procurement Guidance:
    - Advise the project team on procurement strategies.
    - Identify potential suppliers and contractors for project execution.
    - Assist in contractor selection through a competitive bidding process.
  3. Contract Management:
    - Implement and oversee contract administration procedures.
    - Ensure compliance with contractual agreements and address any arising issues.
    - Process contractor payment requests and manage contract variations.
  4. Risk and Value Management:
    - Identify potential risks and propose mitigation strategies.
    - Provide advice on contractual claims and disputes, coordinating with legal teams as necessary.
    - Apply value management techniques from the project's inception, analyzing plans for cost-effectiveness.
  5. Cost Monitoring and Reporting:
    - Track project costs and deliver regular updates to stakeholders.
    - Prepare comprehensive progress reports, including final account statements for clients.
    - Analyze cost implications of design or construction modifications.
  6. Subcontractor Oversight:
    - Monitor and evaluate the performance of selected subcontractors.
    - Ensure subcontractor work aligns with project specifications.
    - Resolve conflicts between the project team and subcontractors to minimize disruptions.
  7. Commercial Insight and Business Development:
    - Stay informed about industry trends and market changes that may affect project costs.
    - Contribute to business development initiatives and promote the company's services to prospective clients.
    - Represent the company at industry events.
  8. Regulatory Compliance:
    - Understand and apply building contracts, local and national regulations, and legal requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
    - Keep abreast of developments in statutory legislation and guidelines impacting the roofing and construction sectors.
  9. Quality Assurance:
    - Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure compliance with standards, building codes, and regulations.
    - Inspect and verify the quality of materials and workmanship against design specifications.
  10. Sustainability Considerations:
    - Assess the environmental impact of projects and recommend strategies to reduce carbon footprints.
    - Identify sustainable and cost-effective solutions for project execution.
  11. Stakeholder Engagement:
    - Liaise with construction managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication throughout the project.
    - Mediate conflicts or issues during the project lifecycle as necessary.
Candidate Profile:
  • Organized and methodical in planning.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Proficient knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts.
  • Clear and effective communicator.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficient in computing systems (Microsoft 365/Apple Software).
  • Professionally qualified with in-depth knowledge of industrial roofing, Solar PV installation, and scaffolding.
  • Broad construction knowledge and experience.
