Balfour Beatty is seeking a Lead Cost Estimator to become a vital member of our Regional Civils team.

The Lead Cost Estimator is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in the financial oversight of civil engineering projects. This role requires a dependable individual who can fulfill essential commercial responsibilities to support construction activities, engage with clients in a professional manner, and manage commercial reporting for the broader organization.

The ideal candidate will also have experience in guiding and mentoring junior commercial staff.

Key Responsibilities

As a Lead Cost Estimator, your responsibilities will include:

Overseeing the financial management of projects from post-tender to final account agreement, which includes budgeting, cash flow management, and the preparation, analysis, and presentation of Cost Value Reports (CVRs) and Scheme Forecasts, all adhering to business and contractual timelines. Managing changes through drafting contractual correspondence, administration, and the valuation, agreement, and implementation of Compensation Events. Administering subcontractor agreements from procurement to completion, including compiling subcontract scopes from design, drafting inquiries, producing and finalizing subcontracts, remeasurement, payments, and the final account agreement, all aimed at achieving Main Contract objectives. Demonstrating a solid understanding of the NEC4 suite of contracts. Providing valuable commercial insights, support, and analysis on project and construction matters, contributing to overall project strategy and decision-making.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications and attributes:

A BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience. Strong communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively and serve as a role model. Leadership capabilities.
