Role Overview:
Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the Construction Cost Manager will oversee the financial management of project expenditures and execution, including the supervision of various contracts (JCT / NEC etc.), managing subcontractors, activity timelines, payments, and modifications.

Responsibilities include producing bills of quantities and estimates, progressing through to tendering and procurement, while maintaining risk registers to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget, accurately forecasting the financial outcomes of a project.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Advising on estimating and procurement strategies during feasibility and active project phases
  • Preparing Tender and Contract documentation, including collaboration with consultants, contractors, and Project Teams
  • Providing guidance on contractual claims and general contract administration
  • Ensuring the timely generation of interim valuations and the preparation, submission, and substantiation of final accounts
  • Managing and controlling subcontractor and supplier accounts in accordance with agreed terms and conditions
  • Identifying and analyzing commercial risks
  • Preparing claim documentation as necessary
  • Regularly reporting to the COO, ensuring accurate and reliable commercial information is provided to the Senior Leadership Team
  • Preparing and presenting relevant financial and commercial data
  • Actively participating in regular project meetings
  • Ensuring the implementation and provision of cost-related information to assess the financial and physical performance of projects against established targets
  • Preparing, updating, and maintaining activity schedules of budgeted costs, actual costs, project variations, and program delivery
  • Identifying, quantifying, and notifying all contract variations and maintaining contract change registers
  • Conducting procurement and ensuring purchase orders are issued in line with company policy
Qualifications:
Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related field
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in Quantity Surveying, preferably within the civil, waste, or recycling sectors
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project, Excel, Xero, and Netsuite
