NHS Scotland is one of the largest healthcare providers in the UK, employing approximately 40,000 individuals across various clinical and non-clinical roles. We are dedicated to delivering comprehensive healthcare services, including acute hospital care, primary care, community services, and mental health support to a population exceeding 1.15 million.

As part of our commitment to employee well-being, NHS Scotland is transitioning to a reduced full-time working week of 37 hours, effective from April 2024, without a change in salary. This adjustment will also apply to part-time staff on a pro-rata basis. Please note that some service areas may not immediately implement this change, and temporary adjustments to working hours may be necessary.

This position may close early due to high application volumes. We encourage interested candidates to submit their applications promptly.

This role does not qualify for a Skilled Worker visa or a Health and Care Worker visa, and NHS Scotland is unable to provide a Certificate of Sponsorship.

The working schedule for this role is Monday to Friday.

We are currently seeking applications for the position of Audio Typist within the General Surgery department.

The successful candidate will provide a vital typing service to our General Surgery Consultants, Nurse Specialists, and junior staff, ensuring accurate and timely documentation. Additionally, support for the secretarial team and occasional administrative assistance may be required. This role demands a high level of accuracy and the ability to manage your own workload effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a comprehensive typing service to medical professionals.
  • Utilize advanced keyboard skills and audio typing systems.
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in handling sensitive information.
  • Organize and prioritize tasks to meet turnaround targets.
  • Communicate effectively with a diverse range of healthcare professionals.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Proficient in English with advanced keyboard skills.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize workload.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Understanding of Trust Policies and Procedures.
  • Experience with patient administration systems.
