Lead Underwriter – Art and Specie Insurance (Lloyd's based)

About the Role:

The position of Lead Underwriter is crucial to the future achievements and growth objectives we have for Marine in general and Art & Specie (FAS) specifically. This role is situated within a team that underwrites wholesale marine business from our Lloyd's Boxes, alongside a broader team of marine underwriters primarily operating from our London office. The primary focus of this role is to underwrite all four categories of FAS business for the Syndicate, in collaboration with the company market underwriters. We believe that this new distribution channel will significantly enhance our market share.

Our appetite is extensive and global, encompassing Fine Art, General Specie, Jewellers Block, and Cash in Transit.

You will be responsible for ensuring that the assigned business aligns with the strategic requirements for all Marine business written and renewed, while also delivering the volume, quality, and profitability of growth opportunities to the Line of Business, enabling them to achieve their strategic targets.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in underwriting and managing syndicate fine art and specie business, including high-profile multinational clients.
  • Demonstrated success in underwriting a portfolio for a Lloyd's syndicate, with a clear understanding of the metrics necessary to monitor such a portfolio.
  • Well-respected by major London market brokers, with the capability to cultivate and sustain relationships.
  • Results-driven with a strong desire to succeed.
  • Ability to effectively plan and prioritize tasks.
