Lead Underwriter - Fine Art and Specie

About the Role:

The position of Lead Underwriter is essential for the future growth and success we envision for Marine, particularly in Fine Art & Specie (FAS). This role is part of a team that manages wholesale marine business from our Lloyd's Boxes, alongside a wider group of marine underwriters primarily based in London. The primary responsibility involves underwriting all four categories of FAS business for the Syndicate, in collaboration with our market underwriters. We believe this new distribution channel will significantly boost our market share.

Our scope is extensive and global, encompassing Fine Art, General Specie, Jewellers Block, and Cash in Transit.

You will be responsible for ensuring that the business you manage aligns with the strategic objectives for all Marine business written and renewed, while also delivering on volume, quality, and profitability to help achieve our business targets.

Desired Skills and Experience:
  • Proven experience in underwriting and managing syndicate fine art and specie portfolios, including high-profile multinational clients.
  • Demonstrated success in overseeing a portfolio for a Lloyd's syndicate, with a solid understanding of the metrics necessary for portfolio management.
  • Well-respected among major London market brokers, with a talent for building and sustaining relationships.
  • Results-driven with a strong desire to excel.
  • Ability to effectively plan and prioritize tasks.
