Reports to: Senior Underwriter, Cargo and Specie
Annual Salary: £26,000 - £28,000
Experience Level: Entry level
Primary Purpose of Job:
The role involves providing assistance to Underwriters in the daily administration and upkeep of the business class. It is essential to ensure that records are maintained accurately and submitted punctually.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inputting underwriting risk information into the underwriting system, which includes establishing new risks, modifying, and finalizing entries.
- Efficiently entering aggregate data and consistently monitoring team exposures and accumulations.
- Organizing and attaching documents within the document management system.
- Maintaining files in an orderly and updated manner.
- Reviewing reports for incomplete risks and error items, followed by rectifying and/or pursuing Underwriters or Brokers for necessary information.
- Managing Binder and Lineslip - Inputting bordereaux, overseeing monthly or quarterly bordereaux reporting, and following up with Brokers and/or Coverholders for pending information.
- Conducting compliance checks as required.
- Monitoring risk renewal reports and coordinating with brokers for updates on upcoming risks.
- Supporting the team with additional reporting, meeting preparations, and general administrative duties.
- Fostering and maintaining positive relationships with brokers and clients to deliver exceptional service and value.

Cargo and Specie Overview:
The Cargo team operates within the Lloyd's of London Cargo market, underwriting various insurance solutions for manufacturers, distributors, and logistics providers for all types of interests being shipped and stored globally. Coverage is provided for a wide array of interests, from food products to automobiles, and from bulk commodities to satellites, encompassing all stages of the manufacturing process.
Knowledge of specific interests, inherent risks, geographical exposures, and political environments is crucial for successful insurance and underwriting. The team collaborates with major broking houses and emphasizes maintaining strong relationships with brokers to deliver excellent service to a diverse client base.
