About the Role

Within the Information Systems and Identity and Access Management (IS and IDAM) division, the IDAM Technical Services Lead will oversee a dedicated team of IDAM Analysts and Engineers. This role entails strategic resource planning, work scheduling, progress monitoring, incident anticipation, and responsive issue management as raised by stakeholders. The primary objectives include ensuring service stability, prompt incident resolution, and continuous service improvement to maximize value for the University.

IDAM Responsibilities

  • Provide expert guidance on identity and access management technologies and broader IDAM concerns to senior leadership, IDAM Analysts/Engineers, and external partners.
  • Advocate for and promote the adoption of IDAM industry standards within IT Services and the broader University framework. Collaborate in defining, communicating, and implementing IDAM strategies and methodologies, working closely with the team to ensure effective execution.
  • Direct the planning, development, delivery, and maintenance of IDAM technologies, alongside the implementation of IDAM tools. Collaborate with other IT Teams to achieve shared objectives and manage change delivery for IDAM components.
  • Maintain comprehensive roadmaps, schedules, and oversee IT maintenance and installation activities, including significant configuration changes and upgrades. Engage with other IT Teams, key business stakeholders, and external vendors as necessary, ensuring compliance with service level agreements.
  • Ensure that operational procedures and practices are relevant and up-to-date. Accountable for the identification, documentation, monitoring, and resolution of incidents and problems. Provide timely status updates and reports to specialists, users, and management.
Person Specification
  • Extensive experience in leading technical teams and fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Strong technical expertise with a broad range of technologies, including experience in delivering, developing, and managing IDAM tools.
  • Proven track record in providing technical insights on strategic, large-scale security and identity and access management initiatives.
  • Familiarity with IDAM tools and principles (e.g., SSO, federation, MFA, OpenLDAP, Shibboleth, Active Directory, identity lifecycle management, authentication and authorization systems, Open Enterprise Server (OES), netIQ eDirectory, netIQ Identity Manager (IDM), RBAC, PAM, risk-based authentication, access reviews, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with key stakeholders to comprehend business and technical requirements, manage expectations, and keep them informed of progress.
  • Excellent collaboration, influencing, and communication skills, with a passion for promoting technical excellence.
  • Desirable qualifications include ITIL V4, CISM, CISSP.
Salary / Package

This senior position offers a competitive salary based on experience, along with 29 days of annual leave (plus 4 closure days during the holiday season and 8 bank holidays), flexible working arrangements (minimum two days in the office), and an attractive pension scheme with substantial employer contributions.
