The University of Manchester is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior IDAM Technical Services Manager to join our Information Systems and Identity and Access Management (IS and IDAM) division.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of IDAM Analysts and Engineers, providing technical expertise and guidance on identity and access administration technologies, and driving the adoption of IDAM-industry standards within IT Services and the wider University.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical leadership and guidance on IDAM technologies and wider IDAM issues to senior managers, IDAM Analysts/Engineers, and external stakeholders.
- Champion and drive the adoption of IDAM-industry standards within IT Services and the wider University, contributing to the definition, communication, and implementation of IDAM strategy, methods, and working practices.
- Lead the planning, development, delivery, and maintenance of IDAM technologies, as well as the implementation of IDAM tooling.
- Work collaboratively with other IT Teams to deliver shared outcomes and be responsible for any change delivery for any IDAM components.
- Maintain roadmaps, schedules, and supervise IT maintenance and installation work, including major configuration changes and upgrades.
- Consult with other IT Teams, key business stakeholders, and external suppliers, as needed, ensuring tasks are carried out in line with Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Ensure that procedures and working practices are fit for purpose and current, accountable for identifying, recording, monitoring, and resolving incidents and problems, and providing appropriate status and other reports to specialists, users, and managers.
- Significant experience of leading technical teams and developing and sustaining a high-performance culture.
- Strong technical background with extensive experience across multiple technologies, including experience delivering, developing, and running IDAM tools.
- Demonstrable experience of providing technical understanding on strategic, large/complex security and/or identity and access management projects.
- Experience with IDAM tools and principles, such as Single Sign-On (SSO), federation, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), OpenLDAP, Shibboleth, Active Directory, identity lifecycle management, authentication, and authorization systems.
- Proven ability to work effectively with key stakeholders to understand business and technical requirements, manage expectations, and keep them apprised of progress.
- Strong collaboration, influencing, and communication skills, with an enthusiasm for advocating technical excellence.
- Desirable qualifications: ITIL V4, CISM, CISSP.
This is a senior position (grade 7) offering a competitive salary (depending on experience), along with 29 days annual leave (plus 4 closure days over Christmas and 8 bank holidays), flexible working (office-based at least two days a week), and an attractive pension scheme (up to 21% employer contributions).
