Job Overview

We are seeking a proactive and skilled Information Governance Manager to join our dynamic Information Governance Team. This permanent position offers a unique opportunity to deepen your expertise within a prominent NHS Foundation Trust.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily management of Information Governance requests related to Research and Development.
  • Enhance departmental performance through monitoring and improvement initiatives.
  • Provide expert guidance on Information Governance matters, particularly in the context of research.
  • Lead and advise on Data Protection Impact Assessments.
  • Manage contracts effectively.
  • Support the broader Information Governance objectives of the trust.

Detailed Responsibilities

This role entails ensuring compliance with information governance policies across intricate clinical and corporate domains. Key duties include:

  • Implementing the information governance assurance framework and operational support.
  • Fostering a culture of high-quality information governance practices.
  • Establishing systems that comply with legal and statutory requirements.
  • Advising on best practices and conducting staff training on local information governance policies.
  • Assisting the Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO) and Caldicott Guardian in maintaining compliance.
  • Providing complex advice to ensure adherence to data protection policies.
  • Conducting audits and assessments to gather evidence and monitor compliance.
  • Developing a comprehensive Information Governance strategy aligned with legal requirements.
  • Coordinating the annual submission of the Data Security and Protection Toolkit.
  • Promoting and overseeing adherence to information governance policies and procedures.
  • Collaborating with risk management to mitigate risks and financial losses.
  • Enhancing the information governance culture by engaging stakeholders.
  • Expertly managing investigations of information governance breaches.
  • Maintaining a log of Caldicott issues related to personal data sharing.
  • Ensuring that risk and change registers are updated and managed appropriately.
  • Supporting the management of an information asset register.
  • Collaborating with the Information Security Officer to deliver security assurance programs.
  • Communicating guidance on improving patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
  • Providing training in information governance and conducting workplace assessments.
  • Setting strategic directions for the FOI and Information Rights team.
  • Ensuring a robust FOI and Information Rights service.
  • Engaging with various stakeholders to respond to requests effectively.
  • Staying updated on relevant legislative developments.

Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

  • A degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • A postgraduate qualification in Management Studies or a related area.
  • Significant experience in politically sensitive environments.
  • Proven track record in managing information governance and FOI processes.
  • Experience in project coordination within complex settings.
