Position Overview

We are seeking a proactive and skilled Senior Information Governance Officer to join our Information Governance Team. This permanent role offers a unique opportunity to enhance your expertise within a prominent NHS Foundation Trust.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily management of Information Governance requests related to Research and Development.
  • Enhance departmental performance through monitoring and strategic improvements.
  • Provide expert guidance on Information Governance matters, particularly in the context of research initiatives.
  • Lead on Data Protection Impact Assessments and manage relevant contracts.
  • Support the broader Information Governance objectives of the trust.

Detailed Responsibilities

This role entails ensuring compliance with established information governance policies across various clinical and corporate domains. Key responsibilities include:

  • Implementing the information governance assurance framework and operational support tools.
  • Fostering a culture of high-quality information governance practices through training and guidance.
  • Ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory requirements in all information governance activities.
  • Advising on best practices and providing training on local information governance policies.
  • Supporting senior management in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Conducting audits and assessments to monitor compliance and effectiveness.
  • Developing and executing a comprehensive Information Governance strategy.
  • Managing the annual submission for the Data Security and Protection Toolkit.
  • Promoting and ensuring adherence to information governance policies and procedures.
  • Collaborating with risk management to mitigate potential risks.
  • Enhancing the information governance culture through stakeholder engagement.
  • Investigating information governance breaches and preparing formal reports.
  • Maintaining comprehensive logs and registers related to information governance.
  • Providing training and support for staff on information governance practices.

Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

  • A degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience in a similar role.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in Management Studies or a related area.
  • Significant experience in politically sensitive environments and managing information governance processes.
  • Proven ability to coordinate projects and manage risks effectively.
