Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

  • Overseeing daily management of Research and Development information governance requests
  • Evaluating and enhancing departmental performance
  • Providing expert guidance on all aspects of Information Governance, particularly in relation to Research and Development
  • Leading and advising on Data Protection Impact Assessments
  • Managing contracts
  • Contributing to the broader Information Governance initiatives of the trust
Role Description

This position is accountable for ensuring compliance with information governance policies across intricate clinical and corporate services. Additionally, it involves the proactive management of Records Management and Information Rights services.

Key tasks include delivering the information governance assurance model, operational support, and expert advice.

Fostering a culture of high-quality information governance management practices, including offering guidance on corporate policy operations to staff.

Implementing systems and practices that ensure compliance with all legal, statutory, and best practice requirements.

Advising on best practices in compliance with policies and providing training on local information governance policies.

Supporting the Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO) and Caldicott Guardian in ensuring adherence to legal and ethical frameworks.

Delivering a comprehensive program of evidence collection, monitoring, assessment, and audit, including managing assurance and escalating quality, risk, and management issues as necessary.

Coordinating the annual submission of the Data Security and Protection Toolkit assurance framework, ensuring an auditable evidence base is maintained.

Promoting and monitoring necessary information governance policies, procedures, and guidance.

Collaborating with the risk management function to mitigate risks and financial losses associated with service disruptions.

Enhancing the information governance culture by engaging stakeholders to communicate standards and raise awareness.

Providing expert advice on GDPR, FOI, EIR, and RPSI compliance to facilitate best practices.

Participating in local audits of compliance with information governance standards.

Ensuring timely escalation and management of GDPR, Caldicott, and information sharing governance issues.

Delivering training and awareness materials to key personnel within the organization.

Managing the coordination of the Information Governance Group and ensuring all documentation is prepared and reviewed prior to meetings.

Investigating suspected information governance breaches and producing formal reports as required.

Maintaining a log of Caldicott issues related to requests for sharing personally identifiable information.

Ensuring that risk, issue, and change registers for information governance are maintained and addressed appropriately.

Supporting the delivery of an information asset register and embedding processes to map information assets and data flows.

Collaborating with the Information Security Officer to deliver the information security assurance program.

Communicating recommendations for improving patient outcomes and business efficiency through process reviews and technology.

Assisting staff and stakeholders in establishing appropriate filing structures and access controls for electronic information.

Facilitating de-identification and pseudonymisation projects from an information governance perspective.

Responsible for the safe use of equipment and providing training in information governance.

Establishing and developing written procedures for the trust's FOI and/or Information Rights service.

Ensuring the quality of responses prior to release.

Qualifications

Education & Professional Qualifications

  • Degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience in a similar role
  • Post-graduate degree in Management Studies or equivalent
