Position Overview

Join our dynamic Venue Sales team in a remarkable setting at the UK's premier zoo.

In this role, you will be responsible for optimizing revenue from Chester Zoo's exceptional facilities, including our beautiful wedding and events venue, The Square. Your focus will be on the sales and coordination of weddings and special occasions, such as festive gatherings, milestone celebrations, and other significant events. Your Responsibilities:

  • Lead the charge in enhancing venue sales for Chester Zoo, ensuring we generate income and surplus through the sale and planning of events that are engaging, inspiring, and relevant; maximizing business development opportunities to deliver a world-class customer experience.
  • Work towards achieving departmental income and KPI targets while maximizing operational surplus through effective planning, commercial activities, sales initiatives, and cost management.
  • Oversee the execution of all events, establishing timelines, managing invoicing and contracts, and delegating tasks to the broader team. Additionally, support the delivery of complex, high-profile, and large-scale events, including senior-level liaison, contract negotiation, and management as needed.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Permanent employment contract.
  • Annual salary of £28,612.83 based on a 40-hour workweek, typically Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend or evening shifts as required.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in a Sales Executive capacity, preferably in environments such as visitor attractions, large hospitality venues, or extensive visitor operations.
  • Outstanding customer service skills in a customer-focused setting.
  • Ability to balance customer needs and service capabilities while ensuring profitability.
  • A natural salesperson with the aptitude to identify commercial opportunities and see them through to execution.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with a diverse range of individuals, including external clients, suppliers, and internal colleagues.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient in computer applications, particularly EPOS and IT systems, including Excel and other Microsoft products.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • A proven track record in business development and proactive sales.
