Position Overview: We are in search of a dedicated and skilled Lead Animation Engineer to enhance our team. Collaborating with our experienced technical animators, you will contribute to a range of exciting projects, including a tactical shooter, a survival action game set in a post-apocalyptic world, and a Sci-Fi shooter.

The ideal candidate will support our animation department, produce high-quality content, and mentor fellow team members on thrilling unannounced projects. Our vibrant and expanding art team seeks a passionate individual to foster team development and significantly influence our game offerings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain comprehensive documentation regarding tools, methodologies, training, and processes throughout the animation pipeline.
  • Provide insightful contributions during character development, from initial concepts to final rigging, ensuring character performance and functionality meet expectations.
  • Investigate new technologies and innovations to enhance animation efficiency.
  • Communicate effectively with coding, design, art, and animation teams to deliver engaging and high-performance gaming experiences.
  • Assess the quality of work and implement improvements to align with technical constraints and artistic vision.
  • Act as a mentor and role model for your team, fostering a creative and enthusiastic environment.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of anatomy and body mechanics.
  • Proficient in 3D software such as Maya, Motion Builder, and/or Blender, with a focus on rigging and skinning.
  • Experience in creating body, facial, and prop rigs.
  • Thorough knowledge of motion capture techniques.
  • Familiarity with scripting tools using MEL and Python.
  • Good understanding of production workflows.
  • Advanced knowledge of the video game development lifecycle.
  • Understanding of 3D mathematics (linear algebra, vectors, and matrices).
  • Experience in developing UI tools with Maya commands or QT/Pyside is advantageous.
  • Ability to create tools using Python is a plus.
  • Experience with the Maya node editor and creating complex systems is beneficial.
  • Capability to create corrective joints and manipulate them, particularly with vectors, is a significant advantage.
