  • Position 1 - 34 hours per week
  • Position 2 - 34 hours per week
  • Position 3 - 34 hours per week
  • Position 4 - 34 hours per week (2 shifts each week)

Role Overview

The ESC Officer position is both demanding and diverse, requiring strong organizational abilities and a professional telephone demeanor. You will interact with customers, internal departments, and external organizations to deliver assistance during emergencies. Exceptional communication skills are essential as you will be utilizing various computer systems, radios, and alarm devices.

Key operational areas include:

  • Monitoring closed-circuit television (CCTV)
  • Coordinating responses to the Home Emergency Alarms Response Service (HEARS)
  • Handling out-of-hours inquiries from the public and external entities.

This role is based in a Control Room, and remote work is not an option.

Daily Responsibilities

You will be stationed at the main offices and will follow a structured shift pattern that includes early, late, and night shifts.

Shift Patterns

ESC Officers are scheduled for 34 hours per week on a defined shift pattern that encompasses evenings, weekends, and public holidays. The shift rotation consists of 2 early shifts, 2 late shifts, 2 night shifts, followed by 4 days off. This cycle repeats for 10 weeks, after which a flexible fortnight occurs where you will need to be adaptable and cover 9 assigned shifts over a 14-day span. These shifts will vary based on the needs for annual leave and sickness cover.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, dependable, and possess at least 5 GCSEs or an NVQ Level 3, along with 2 years of relevant experience. You will work within a dynamic small team, addressing various emergency situations that arise during your shifts, and must be able to prioritize effectively while collaborating with your shift partner to identify optimal solutions.

Experience in public interaction and proficiency in operating Windows-based software are crucial. A high level of focus is necessary to quickly assess and respond to a range of issues as they occur.

While having a Public Space CCTV Surveillance SIA license is preferred, candidates without this qualification are still encouraged to apply.

An enhanced DBS Disclosure and Police Vetting Clearance will be mandatory for this position.
