Job Overview

Introduction

This position is not eligible for sponsorship.

Are you someone who possesses a nurturing spirit? Do you aspire to positively impact the lives of others? Are you seeking a new opportunity where comprehensive training is available? Are you adaptable with your work schedule? Can you envision yourself assisting adults in need of care?

If you find yourself answering a resounding YES to these questions, we would be delighted to hear from you.

At Turning Point, we provide support to individuals with Learning Disabilities throughout England. As a Care Assistant, you will significantly enhance the lives of residents by fostering their daily living skills. With a passion for helping others, you will have the opportunity to grow personally and professionally, gaining the experience and training necessary for advancement within our organization.

Work Environment

Our facility is conveniently located and easily accessible. We support eight individuals who have profound, multiple Learning Disabilities along with additional health challenges. Some of the individuals we assist have complex needs, mobility challenges, and require substantial personal care. As a Care Assistant, you will acquire communication skills, including the use of signing and visual aids, as some residents are non-verbal. We strive to cultivate positive relationships, creating a supportive community. Our service is well-regarded and hosts numerous events during the summer months.

No prior experience is required; we provide comprehensive training to all staff, regardless of their background, to ensure they excel as Care Assistants.

We utilize a digital social care record system to facilitate daily documentation, making your routine tasks more manageable and allowing you to dedicate more time to the individuals we support.

Training and Growth Opportunities

We are committed to the professional development of our staff, offering training in various skills and competencies beyond the care sector.

  • Level 2 and 3 Lead Adult Care Worker
  • Level 3 Operational Team Leader

Please note that training will commence after the completion of your six-month probation period. Once you begin your training, you will be paired with a coach who will guide you through your program.

Work Schedule

This is a 24-hour service, necessitating flexibility in your schedule. You will be required to work various shifts, including early mornings, late evenings, overnight shifts, and weekends.

Key Responsibilities

What will your role entail?

This is a dynamic position where no two days are alike. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Encouraging the independence of the individuals we support
  • Assisting with a variety of daily activities, including household tasks and outings
  • Organizing activities both within the home and in the local community
  • Helping residents develop life skills and pursue personal interests
  • Ensuring the safety and well-being of residents
  • Providing assistance with personal care needs
  • Conducting manual handling
  • Supporting residents with medication management
  • Maintaining accurate records and contributing to service monitoring requirements.

Ideal Candidate Profile

What qualities and skills should you possess?

While familiarity with learning disabilities and complex needs is advantageous, it is not mandatory. What is essential is that you are:

  • Compassionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic
  • Flexible, patient, and open-minded
  • A collaborative team player with abundant energy
  • Able to demonstrate effective communication skills
  • Experienced in assisting individuals with anxiety management.
