Position: Youth Care Leadership Coordinator

Location: London, SE26 5HY

Compensation: £33,826.00 annually.

Employment Type: Full-time, permanent.

Work Schedule:

This role involves a flexible shift system, which may include early mornings, evenings, overnight shifts, weekends, and public holidays.

Employees will be scheduled for an average of 40 hours per week (including breaks) over the roster cycle. Sleep-in duties are a requirement of this position.

At SJD Homes, we offer a variety of specialized services for children and young people aged 8-17 years.

Role Overview:

The successful candidates will join a team delivering a comprehensive residential service for children and young people with associated challenging behaviors, aged between 8-17 years.

Our goal is to ensure the physical, social, and emotional care and development of the young individuals at SJD Homes.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist children and young people in focusing on their education, behavior, and overall well-being to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Support the Manager in all operational aspects of the home while maintaining positive childcare practices aligned with the home's objectives.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and review of service policies.
  • Ensure that care staff adhere to the home's guidelines in accordance with policy documents and care plans during shifts.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to emergency situations, ensuring the safety and well-being of the young residents and others.
  • Demonstrate compliance with all regulatory requirements, including Health and Safety, COSHH, RIDDOR, and Accident Reporting.
  • Delegate tasks to residential care staff and coordinate daily routines while participating in household duties such as cooking, cleaning, and gardening, promoting high standards of cleanliness.
  • Engage in general activities with residents, such as cycling, swimming, walking, and playing games, utilizing any personal skills to enhance opportunities for each resident.
  • Be proficient in support plans and risk assessments, providing thorough handovers to the team and management regarding individual residents in a positive, structured, and professional manner.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma Level 5 in Children and Young People.
  • Proven experience working with children and young people in a care environment.
  • Strong motivational and staff development skills.
  • A collaborative team player who can also work independently.
  • Excellent communication skills, being articulate and adaptable.
