Job Title: Teaching Assistant - Lewisham

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Location: Lewisham, London

About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and caring Teaching Assistant to join our team at a SEN school in Lewisham. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs, providing individualized attention and care to ensure their academic and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with special educational needs in their daily classroom activities
  • Use communication aids such as PECS, Makaton, and Visual timetables to facilitate learning
  • Manage challenging behaviors with confidence and a positive approach
  • Encourage students to learn through play and sensory learning
  • Assess students' needs and levels, providing feedback to the Class Teacher
  • Supervise children in class, playground, and dining areas
  • Provide personal care when required

Requirements:

  • 6 months+ experience working with children
  • Knowledge of Special Needs through school or care work - Autism, SLD, PMLD
  • Caring and patient nature
  • Team Player
  • Qualification is desirable but not essential - e.g. Degree, Level 3 Childcare / TA / Health Care, TeamTeach, PECS
  • Available for full-time hours: MON - FRI 8.30am - 4.00pm
  • Live in or available to travel to Islington
