About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Autism Support Assistant to join our team at GSL Education. As an Autism Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and social development of students with autism.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the implementation of individualized learning plans and support strategies to promote the academic and personal growth of students with autism.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to create a positive and inclusive learning environment that meets the diverse needs of students.
  • Provide one-on-one support to students during lessons and activities, promoting social skills and emotional regulation.
  • Monitor and record students' progress and behavior, using data to inform instruction and support.
  • Support students in developing self-advocacy skills and promoting independence.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all students at all times, adhering to safeguarding and child protection policies.
Requirements
  • Previous experience as an Autism Support Assistant or in a similar role, with a strong understanding of autism and strategies to support students.
  • Relevant qualifications, such as CACHE or NVQ, are desirable but not mandatory.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude, with a commitment to promoting the well-being and dignity of all students.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection protocols.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one.
