Political Insight Analyst

At London Communications Agency, we thrive in a vibrant and fast-moving atmosphere, continuously pushing our boundaries, supporting one another, and evolving through experience – no two days are alike, and we embrace this dynamic environment. By joining our Insight team, you will play a crucial role in our operations.

Role Overview

The position of Political Insight Analyst offers an excellent opportunity for individuals at the beginning of their professional journey (preferably with approximately 12 months of relevant experience) to become part of a successful and expanding organization. Here, you will engage in diverse tasks across various clients within an enjoyable and driven setting.

This role is situated within our exceptional Insight team, which spearheads the company's monitoring and research initiatives related to political and public policy. Acting as the central hub for our corporate thought leadership and intelligence-driven marketing, the Insight team collaborates closely with our in-house Design, Finance, and Administrative teams to support our two client-facing divisions: Corporate, Consumer & Social (CCS) and Politics, Engagement & Planning (PEP).

The Political Insight Analyst will be an integral member of the Insight team, working alongside the Account Manager – Insight and the Managing Director – Insight. Your contributions will be central to the agency's mission. While primarily collaborating with the Account Manager – Insight, you will also have the chance to engage directly with senior management and colleagues from various departments to achieve optimal outcomes for our clients.

We are particularly interested in candidates who possess a solid understanding of governmental and political dynamics, with a focus on Labour politics being especially advantageous. Familiarity with policy areas such as urban planning, housing, development, transportation, and healthcare will also be beneficial. Above all, we value a genuine enthusiasm for politics and policy.

Key Responsibilities

As a Political Insight Analyst, you will be responsible for:

  • Monitoring and synthesizing critical intelligence: Stay informed about political issues relevant to various sectors, particularly those of interest to our clients.
  • Tracking legislative processes: Follow key policymaking activities in governmental bodies and local authorities.
  • Conducting research: Investigate political developments within local government and inform account teams of significant changes.
  • Media monitoring: Analyze social and traditional media, preparing reports to keep account teams updated.
  • Networking: Attend relevant conferences and political events to gather essential intelligence for our clients.

Supporting Business Development and Marketing

  • Assist the Insight team in producing our weekly newsletter by identifying relevant stories and trends, conducting research, and supporting the editorial process.
  • Provide research assistance for the creation of election briefings.
  • Support colleagues in designing marketing materials, presentations, and proposals.
  • Lead contributions to our social media channels, ensuring the Insight team's work is effectively represented.

Maintaining Intelligence Systems

  • Manage our database of political contacts, focusing on key political entities.
  • Coordinate with monitoring services to ensure effectiveness and currency.

Candidate Profile

  • Exceptional critical thinking and writing skills, capable of distilling complex topics into concise briefings for diverse audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively under pressure.
  • Proficient IT skills, particularly in Word and PowerPoint, with experience in Excel and content management systems being advantageous.
  • Creative in presenting data and insights in engaging formats.
  • A passion for politics, especially Labour politics, with a solid understanding of local governance.
  • Experience in communications or public relations is a plus.
  • A collaborative mindset, capable of building relationships across diverse backgrounds.
  • A strong desire to learn and grow within the team.
