Position Overview
We are in search of a skilled and experienced Senior Psychiatric Consultant to lead our dedicated team across our specialized Psychiatric Intensive Care Units and acute wards. This role is designed for a dynamic leader who can cultivate a professional and open environment, empowering our clinical staff to deliver exceptional and compassionate care.

Key Responsibilities
As the Senior Psychiatric Consultant, you will play a pivotal role within our facility, collaborating closely with a multi-disciplinary management team to ensure our care adheres to the highest regulatory standards. Your leadership will be instrumental in shaping the strategic direction of our units, with a continuous focus on safe, effective, and individualized patient care.

Core Duties Include:
1. Collaborating with clinical colleagues and management to develop a comprehensive treatment service aimed at delivering high-quality responses to various mental health challenges, based on evidence-based practices.
2. Taking overall responsibility for a defined caseload of patients, providing expert advice on psychiatric care within your service area.
3. Fostering positive working relationships with the Medical Director, Hospital Director, Clinical Services Manager, and external stakeholders.
4. Overseeing the performance of Consultant Psychiatrists, ensuring robust systems are in place for appraisal and revalidation.
5. Maintaining effective leadership alongside other Consultant Psychiatrists, providing clinical supervision and mentorship.
6. Supporting the appraisal and revalidation process for fellow Psychiatrists in collaboration with the Responsible Officer.
7. Representing the organization at local, regional, and national levels, enhancing the profile of our services and establishing connections with key partners.

Qualifications Required:
- Approved Clinician status
- Membership in the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) with good standing in Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
- Current registration with the General Medical Council (GMC)

Experience Required:
- Minimum of five years' experience in an inpatient setting
- Experience in Psychiatric Intensive Care Units and Acute Services (both male and female)
- Proven ability to make independent clinical decisions and demonstrate clinical leadership.

Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Strong understanding of evidence-based practices
- In-depth knowledge of Mental Health Act (MHA) and Mental Capacity Act (MCA)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Up-to-date knowledge of current practices in inpatient psychiatry
- Ability to prioritize clinical needs effectively
- Evidence of participation in audits.

Salary: Competitive
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm or part-time hours available.
