Position Overview
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Senior Psychiatric Consultant to join our dedicated team at Nouvita. This role involves leading our female-only Psychiatric Intensive Care Units and male and female acute wards, ensuring a high standard of care and fostering a supportive environment for our clinical staff.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Psychiatric Consultant, you will:
1. Collaborate with clinical colleagues and management to develop a comprehensive treatment service.
2. Take overall responsibility for a defined caseload of patients, providing expert psychiatric care.
3. Work closely with the multidisciplinary team, building positive relationships with key stakeholders.
4. Oversee the performance of Consultant Psychiatrists, ensuring effective appraisal and revalidation processes.
5. Maintain professional leadership and provide clinical supervision and mentorship to junior psychiatrists.
6. Represent Nouvita at local, regional, and national levels, enhancing our profile and establishing partnerships.
7. Participate in quality enhancement projects and contribute to service evaluation and research initiatives.
Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you should possess:
- Approved Clinician status
- Membership in the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) in good standing
- Current registration with the GMC
- A minimum of five years' experience in an inpatient setting, particularly in Psychiatric Intensive Care Units and Acute Services.
Skills and Knowledge
We expect candidates to have:
- Strong knowledge of evidence-based practice
- In-depth understanding of the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize clinical needs effectively
- Evidence of participation in audit activities.
Working Hours
This position offers flexibility with options for full-time or part-time hours, Monday to Friday.
